Patrick J. Briney

Patrick J. Briney obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1969. He then joined the U.S. Army and served until 1972. In 1976, Mr. Briney earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University. While attending law school, he was the chairman of the Moot Court Board. He began his legal career as an assistant attorney general for the State of Louisiana and subsequently worked as an assistant district attorney for the Parish of East Baton Rouge.

Mr. Briney is one of the incorporators of the Lafayette Public Education Fund and has been a member of several advisory committees for the Lafayette Parish School Board. He was vice president and a member of the board of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association. Mr. Briney is frequently invited to appear and speak at seminars for members of the bar and insurance industry. He has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of ethics.

He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, Lafayette Parish, and Louisiana Bar Associations.

His primary areas of practice are professional malpractice, construction law, products liability, automobile, property damage, insurance, fire, and general liability litigation.
